Lesson 225: ”God is my Father, and His Son loves Him.”
Reframe: Love and connection are reciprocal and ever-present.
Suggested Practice:
From now on:
One in the morning and one in the evening for however many minutes feels sufficient. Then every hour remember/recite the idea for the day.
Prayer For today:
(feel free to swap out the wording to whatever resonates with you best)
‘Father, I must return Your Love for me, for giving and receiving are the same, and You have given all Your Love to me. ²I must return it, for I want it mine in full awareness, blazing in my mind and keeping it within its kindly light, inviolate, beloved, with fear behind and only peace ahead. ³How still the way Your loving Son is led along to You! ‘ (ACIM, W-225.1:1-3)
From the PART II Introduction: Read the whole introduction here.
“Words will mean little now. ²We use them but as guides on which we do not now depend. ³For now we seek direct experience of truth alone. ⁴The lessons that remain are merely introductions to the times in which we leave the world of pain, and go to enter peace. ⁵Now we begin to reach the goal this course has set, and find the end toward which our practicing was always geared.” (ACIM, W-pII.in.1:1-5)
For Lessons 221-230: Forgiveness is the theme. Read the whole article here.
“Forgiveness recognizes what you thought your brother did to you has not occurred. ²It does not pardon sins and make them real. ³It sees there was no sin. ⁴And in that view are all your sins forgiven. ⁵What is sin, except a false idea about God’s Son? ⁶Forgiveness merely sees its falsity, and therefore lets it go. ⁷What then is free to take its place is now the Will of God.” (ACIM, W-pII.1.1:1-7)

Message
This one’s tough for me. I find it easier to believe God loves me than that I love Him. The resistance is internal. My human mind struggles to grasp loving something beyond the 3D world. Actually, I find it easier to love the animated character from “The Hail Mary Project” than the idea of God.
So how do I get past this? Do I even want to? It feels like it would require vulnerability—what if I find out He’s not real? The Course says He’s real, but I don’t want a repeat of what I experienced with the Catholic Church.
One thing that helps is how the Course describes God: an impersonal, formless, infinite principle of pure Love. Most religions—and most of society—see God as a glorified man. Right away, that has the potential to turn off half the population, especially with the idea that “we are made in the image and likeness of God.”
But understanding God as this infinite principle of pure Love and Light—that I can wrap my head around. I see it more as a powerful energy source, a vibration that uplifts and empowers. An energy that wants us to thrive, expand, and express this Love throughout eternity.
One way I apply this is through a visual. When I think of God this way, or when I want to ask for help or guidance, I picture an enormous ball of diffused golden light, radiating outward with a loving vibration. Looking at it, I feel warmth and generosity. It feels safe and supportive. Seeing God this way removes the dogma and makes it much easier to connect. At least, that’s my take.
That’s the God I can honestly love as one of His Creations—His Children.
“I’m abundantly grateful I don’t have to read every little detain of the manual or understand a drive train…I love that it’s not up to me.”
