Lesson 238: ”On my decision all salvation rests.”
Reframe: My choices determine whether I live in alignment and peace.
Suggested Practice:
From now on:
One in the morning and one in the evening for however many minutes feels sufficient. Then every hour remember/recite the idea for the day.
Prayer For today:
(feel free to swap out the wording to whatever resonates with you best)
“Father, Your trust in me has been so great, I must be worthy. ²You created me, and know me as I am. ³And yet You placed Your Son’s salvation in my hands, and let it rest on my decision. ⁴I must be beloved of You indeed. ⁵And I must be steadfast in holiness as well, that You would give Your Son to me in certainty that he is safe Who still is part of You, and yet is mine, because He is my Self.” (ACIM, W-238.1:1-5)
OR… “Love is a noun and a verb — be it, live it.”
For Lessons 231-240: Salvation is the theme. Read the whole article here.
“The Thought of peace was given to God’s Son the instant that his mind had thought of war. ²There was no need for such a Thought before, for peace was given without opposite, and merely was. ³But when the mind is split there is a need of healing. ⁴So the Thought that has the power to heal the split became a part of every fragment of the mind that still was one, but failed to recognize its oneness. ⁵Now it did not know itself, and thought its own Identity was lost.”
“Salvation is undoing in the sense that it does nothing, failing to support the world of dreams and malice. ²Thus it lets illusions go.” (ACIM, W-pII.2.2:1–3:2)
From the PART II Introduction: Read the whole introduction here.
“Words will mean little now. ²We use them but as guides on which we do not now depend. ³For now we seek direct experience of truth alone. ⁴The lessons that remain are merely introductions to the times in which we leave the world of pain, and go to enter peace. ⁵Now we begin to reach the goal this course has set, and find the end toward which our practicing was always geared.” (ACIM, W-pII.in.1:1-5)

Message
Today’s Lesson feels like a big responsibility. All salvation rests on my decision? Yikes. It sounds like a huge ask—and in one sense it is—but the actual decision itself takes only an instant. Be still. Breathe. The decision? Who do I want to rule my life—ego mind or Divine mind?
Ego mind keeps us in fear, limiting beliefs, and grievances. We become victim to it. Divine mind returns us to our natural state of peace, love, and joy: our salvation. As I’ve said before, this doesn’t mean ignoring or denying what’s happening in the world. It means that regardless of circumstances, internally we’re at peace.
While ego mind runs around frantic with worry, anger, and frustration, it gives itself no chance to see a way out. If anything, it spirals down a rabbit hole of limitation. Divine mind sees from a higher vantage point. It knows that from peace, more solutions arise. It reminds me I am loved and supported.
The more I practice these Lessons and choose Divine mind, the more at ease I become—because I know I am safe and supported. From that place, I can extend love and support to others, allowing them to shine their light as I shine mine. That’s salvation in action.
It takes practice—that’s what these Lessons are for. Take today. I learned that Tim Curry had passed, and I found myself scrolling social media for way too long, absorbing reactions and details. At some point, I noticed how much time I’d spent. That awareness alone was enough to shake me loose and change my mind.
No matter how many times we catch ego mind in control, we can always change our minds and choose Divine mind instead.
“I can use my “I am” to argue my limitations or I can use it to speak Truth: I am free, I am blessed, I am joyful.”
