Lesson 239: ”The glory of my Father is my own.”

Reframe: The light and love of the Source shine through me.

Suggested Practice:

From now on:
One in the morning and one in the evening for however many minutes feels sufficient. Then every hour remember/recite the idea for the day.

Prayer For today:
(feel free to swap out the wording to whatever resonates with you best)

“We thank You, Father, for the light that shines forever in us. ²And we honor it, because You share it with us. ³We are one, united in this light and one with You, at peace with all creation and ourselves.”(ACIM, W-239.2:1-3)

OR… “We are one, united in the light, at peace with all creation and ourselves.”

For Lessons 231-240Salvation is the theme. Read the whole article here.
“The Thought of peace was given to God’s Son the instant that his mind had thought of war. ²There was no need for such a Thought before, for peace was given without opposite, and merely was. ³But when the mind is split there is a need of healing. ⁴So the Thought that has the power to heal the split became a part of every fragment of the mind that still was one, but failed to recognize its oneness. ⁵Now it did not know itself, and thought its own Identity was lost.

Salvation is undoing in the sense that it does nothing, failing to support the world of dreams and malice. ²Thus it lets illusions go.” (ACIM, W-pII.2.2:1–3:2)

From the PART II IntroductionRead the whole introduction here.

Words will mean little now. ²We use them but as guides on which we do not now depend. ³For now we seek direct experience of truth alone. ⁴The lessons that remain are merely introductions to the times in which we leave the world of pain, and go to enter peace. ⁵Now we begin to reach the goal this course has set, and find the end toward which our practicing was always geared.” (ACIM, W-pII.in.1:1-5)

Message

From the Lesson:

Let not the truth about ourselves today be hidden by a false humility. ²Let us instead be thankful for the gifts our Father gave us.” (ACIM, W-239.1:1-2)

Had this Lesson appeared earlier in the workbook, I would have found it difficult to grasp—or even believe. I still have a bit of an issue with the term “Father,” though I know I’ll get over it in time.

Let’s look at it logically. Yes, logic can be applied to ACIM. Since we are as God/Father/Universe/Source/Light created us and are One with God, it follows that the glory of God is also our own. Just as a child carries the DNA of its parents, we carry the glory of our Creator.

I think most of us following the daily Lessons understand the premise, even if we have trouble buying into it. I struggle with elevating myself to the level of glory because I’m processing that thought through Juni—the name I’ve given my ego mind.

It’s important to remember this Lesson isn’t directed solely at me; it’s directed at all of us. How different would our lives be if we only saw the glory in each other? For some people it’s easier than others, I know. But the Course tells us that despite our human appearances, the glory of God is our own.

When I allow myself to be the glory—embracing my inner light—I find myself wanting to do and be better. It makes me want to live the principles of the Course: awakening the peace, love, and joy within me and inspiring others to do the same.

Now is not the time to hide our light—or our truth—behind false humility. And based on what I’ve learned from the Course so far, that’s all God wants from and for us: be the light and shine the light.

“It chatters incessantly. It categorizes, compares, labels, judges, and defines. It gets its jolies perpetuating the idea that life is a problem to be solved.”
