Lesson 292 ”A happy outcome to all things is sure.”
Reframe: I trust that everything unfolds toward clarity, learning, and joy.
Suggested Practice:
From now on:
Once in the morning and once in the evening for however many minutes feels sufficient. Then every hour remember/recite the idea for the day.
Prayer For today:
(feel free to swap out the wording to whatever resonates with you best)
“We thank You, Father, for Your guarantee of only happy outcomes in the end. ²Help us not interfere, and so delay the happy endings You have promised us for every problem that we can perceive; for every trial we think we still must meet.”(ACIM, W-292.2:1-2)
OR… “I welcome happy outcomes.”
For Lessons 291-300: What is the Real World? is the theme for the next 10 days. Read the whole article here.
”The real world is a symbol, like the rest of what perception offers. ²Yet it stands for what is opposite to what you made.³Your world is seen through eyes of fear, and brings the witnesses of terror to your mind. ⁴The real world cannot be perceived except through eyes forgiveness blesses, so they see a world where terror is impossible, and witnesses to fear can not be found. (ACIM, W-pII.8.1:1-4).
OR put another way…
”The real world shows a world seen differently, through quiet eyes and with a mind at peace.”
From the PART II Introduction: Read the whole introduction here.
“Words will mean little now. ²We use them but as guides on which we do not now depend. ³For now we seek direct experience of truth alone. ⁴The lessons that remain are merely introductions to the times in which we leave the world of pain, and go to enter peace. ⁵Now we begin to reach the goal this course has set, and find the end toward which our practicing was always geared.” (ACIM, W-pII.in.1:1-5)

Message
From the Lesson:
“God’s promises make no exceptions. ²And He guarantees that only joy can be the final outcome found for everything. …. ⁵Yet is the ending certain. ⁶For God’s Will is done in earth and Heaven.” (ACIM, W-292.1:1-6)
In Lesson 101 we learned that God’s will for us [me] is perfect happiness. It’s his gift to us. In today’s Lesson we learn that God’s Will is done in earth and Heaven. Which, to me, means that we can experience happy outcomes while we’re here. And we can make that happen by allowing Divine mind to rule.
In yesterday’s Lesson I learned that in order to do that I need to be mindful. And telling myself “be mindful” falls flat when I use that as a mantra, mainly because it feels abstract. I needed to adopt a different one. One of the key symptoms I experience when ego mind rules is that I’m always in a hurry, both physically and mentally. So I came up with “slow down.” It’s clear, short, and direct.
Every time I caught myself rushing whether it was preparing my breakfast, going for a walk, or doing the laundry, I slowed down my movements. By slowing down, being present in the moment became much easier, calmer, and more efficient. And the weird thing is, time seemed to slow down. By 11:45 I had completed five tasks that I thought would have taken longer.
As it became later in the afternoon, anxiety started to creep in regarding an event coming up this week of which I’m participating. Thoughts of all the things that could go wrong escalated. Essentially I was pre-suffering and I was well into it before I realized that I had forgotten about my “slow down” mantra. By this time it was going to take more than a mantra. I started deep breathing and asking for Holy Spirit’s help in seeing this differently. I even spoke aloud to myself about what I was experiencing. “I’m feeling anxious. I know I’m pre-suffering. Right now everything is perfectly fine. I’m standing in my kitchen, everything is ok. These anxious thoughts are just an illusion.” Slowly but surely, I brought myself back to enough of a calmer state that I could be more present and then consciously chose to align with Divine mind. From there, I gained clarity on what to do next and to focus on that versus worrying about the future.
As I sit here writing this, my day is ending with a happier outcome: the anxiety is gone. And in order to keep it that way, I’m going to be more regular with my “slow down” mantra. That worked great when I remembered it.
