At last weekend’s Corvallis Fall Festival, I spotted some fascinating pottery by Hilda Kidd-Barber of Fishbowl Pottery. I really appreciate her beautiful use of mixed media: basket weaving and ceramics. “The stoneware is all wheel thrown, then altered so that reed can be woven through the top third of the vessel after it has been fired.”

274 – Peacock Spider Mandala
Nature photographer and lover of Maratus speciosus, Jurgen Otto, captured this delightful photo of the Australian Peacock Spider (maratus s.). What an amazingly colorful creature. I love the vibrancy of its colors and the beautiful pattern on its “tail”. And check out the four green (mandala) eyes.

Glass and Metal artist, Katy LaReau, created these delightfully whimsical garden art pieces that I had the pleasure of seeing in person yesterday at the annual Corvallis Fall Festival in Corvallis, Oregon. If you’re ever in Oregon towards the end of September, I highly recommend visiting wonderful art and music festival.
