Today’s Mandala
Discipline
“Discipline is the bridge between
— Jim Rohn
goals and accomplishment.”
“To enjoy good health,
— Buddha
to bring true happiness to one’s family,
to bring peace to all,
one must first discipline
and control one’s own mind.
If a [person] can control [their] mind
[they] can find the way
to Enlightenment,
and all wisdom and virtue
will naturally come to [them].”
“It [is] character that [gets] us out of bed,
— Zig Ziglar
commitment that [moves] us into action,
and discipline that [enables] us
to follow through.”
Today’s MotD reminds us of the virtue of discipline, in particular: self-discipline. From Mindtools.com: “Self-discipline is the ability to push yourself forward, stay motivated, and take action, regardless of how you’re feeling, physically or emotionally.”
Our challenge becomes focusing on our goals (dreams, etc), recognizing the obstacles in our way (most likely they’re fear-based or just plain-ole bad habits), strategizing obstacle workarounds, and moving forward a step-at-a-time.
Also from Mindtools.com they offer up five steps to develop self-discipline:
- Choose a goal.
- Find your motivation.
- Identify obstacles.
- Replace old habits.
- Monitor your progress.
We are our own worst enemy or we are our own best cheerleader. Which do we choose to be?
“With self-discipline
— Theodore Roosevelt
most anything is possible.”
