Lesson 133: ”I will not value what is valueless.”

AI Reframe: I choose not to invest in what does not truly matter.

Suggested Practice:
From the Lesson:

Heaven itself is reached with empty hands and open minds, which come with nothing to find everything and claim it as their own. ²We will attempt to reach this state today, with self-deception laid aside, and with an honest willingness to value but the truly valuable and the real. ³Our two extended practice periods of fifteen minutes each begin with this:

⁴I will not value what is valueless, and only what has value do I seek, for only that do I desire to find.

“And then receive what waits for everyone who reaches, unencumbered, to the gate of Heaven, which swings open as he comes. ²Should you begin to let yourself collect some needless burdens, or believe you see some difficult decisions facing you, be quick to answer with this simple thought:

³I will not value what is valueless, for what is valuable belongs to me.

Message

For me, I prefer things stated in the positive. So I modified today’s title to: I will value what is valuable. Based on the lessons so far, what’s valuable — at least to me — are peace and happiness.

Today was another crowd-based day, with plenty of opportunities for my ego mind to react with agitation, judgment, and worry.

Multiple times throughout the day, I remembered to check in with my state of mind. Every time, I found myself in reactionary ego-mind mode — usually stressed, anxious, or irritated. Once I had that awareness, I repeated different mantras with a similar theme: I value peace. I can know peace instead of this. I allow myself to return to peace.

Most of the time, I was able to return to peace. The times I didn’t, I at least made it to neutral and stopped my thoughts from spiraling.

Like yesterday, I know it’s going to take repeated practice to monitor who’s in charge and course-correct. I’m aiming for a value-based experience.

“I recognize that if fear shows up in one of its endless costumes, it doesn’t mean there’s an actual problem. It just means there’s a problem in perception.”
