Lesson 146: Review of Lessons 131 and 132
AI Reframe: My awareness retains only what aligns with truth: willingness and release..
Suggested Practice:
Two five-minute sessions: morning and evening. Start each session by opening your mind and clearing it of all thoughts that would deceive, and let this thought alone engage your mind fully, and remove the rest:
My mind holds only what I think with God*.
Then read each of today’s review ideas:
131: No One Can Fail Who Seeks to Reach the Truth.
132: I Loose the World from all I Thought it Was
Close your eyes and say them slowly to yourself. Let each idea give you the gift that He* has laid in it for you. Then close the practice with the first idea.
Throughout the day, each hour, bring to mind today’s main idea and two review ideas. Spend a quiet moment with them without adding any other thoughts.
*God: an impersonal, formless, and infinite principle of pure Love. Substitute whatever term that resonates best and allows you to receive the message. The Will of God is our happiness.
Message
I see today’s review as being about intention and the willingness to seek the truth. Our intention—conscious or not—sets the tone. If I intend to go through my day looking for proof that the world is out to get me, that’s all I’ll see. That doesn’t make it true. It just means that’s the filter I’m using.
For example, if someone opens a door for me, I’ll likely interpret it as a threat to my ego: “What, you don’t think I can open it myself?” I’ve had that exact reaction more times than I can count.
But if I intend to look for miracles, and someone opens the door for me, I’ll see it as a miracle—that I timed it just right.
Here’s what’s interesting to me: the door-opener’s attitude or mood doesn’t matter. What matters is my perception of the experience. They could be having the worst day ever and begrudgingly hold the door as I arrive. If I’m in my miracle-seeking mindset, I’ll still see it as a miracle—because that’s the world I wanted to see.
Regardless of our mindsets, the fact is someone opened the door as I approached. How each of us interprets it is up to us.
Back to the world-out-to-get-me mindset: if I were mindful in that moment and applied Lesson 131, I’d ask “what’s the truth here?” Based on my experience, my Inner Voice would likely say: “They’re not trying to make you look stupid. They’re just being nice. So breathe. Smile if you can. And say thank you.” Then I’d apply Lesson 132—consciously choosing to let go of the idea that this person is out to get me, and graciously accept the help.
What I’ve learned from these lessons so far is that if I truly want to live a life of peace, love, and joy—God’s plan for us—I’m better off seeking the truth in any situation. Once I receive it, I can reject it or accept it. Which one do you think will give me what I want?
“So today, let us look past our perceptions and judgments and lean toward one another and cherish all magnetic nudges toward inclusion.”
