Even in space you can find mandalas! On dwarf planet, Ceres, NASA discovered this bright spot in Occator Crater that has them intrigued. Truth be told, I think we are all easily captivated by bright, shiny things…n’est-ce pas?

225 – Jupiter Mandala
Today we showcase the most massive planet in our solar system: Jupiter. Included in today’s MotD is the shadow cast by one of Jupiter’s moons: Europa, which in its own right is a fascinating and beautiful space mandala.
220 – Seattle Blue Moon Mandala
On July 31, 2015 we experienced a second full moon in one month…called a blue moon. Photographer Tim Durkan capture this gorgeous shot of that very blue moon next to Seattle’s Space Needle.
201 – Star Trails Mandala
International photographer, Eric Nathan, created this amazing and beautiful nightscape image using hundreds of long-exposure images of the night sky over Cape Town South Africa.
It fascinates me how it creates a vortex-like image in space. Because we move so slowly, we hardly notice the stars “moving” let alone “moving” in a circular pattern.
196 – Pluto’s Heart Mandala
Yesterday an amazing thing happened…and it was 10 years and three-billion-miles in the making! NASA’s New Horizons did it’s closest flyby past the last known planet in our solar system: Pluto. And look what appeared around the back side: an area that looks like a heart. And for me, I can also see it as a white dove flapping its wings.
148 – Mini Supernova Mandala
GK Persei is a mini supernova that astronomers observed exploding in 1901. In 2000, NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory began following its explosive progression.
