173 – Our Lady of Guadalupe Mandala
Along with creating mandala art and mandala coloring books, I also do personalized mandala readings for people. Lately the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe has appeared in several readings…enough to catch my attention…enough to inspire me to learn more about Her.
During my research, I found the above image of the Modern Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, built in the 1970’s. Notice anything interesting about the shape of this building???

171 – Lady Sunbeam Mandala
Unless you are of a certain age, this contraption may be a bit foreign to you. In my youth, I used a similar device to this one; my ‘bonnet’ however was white instead of the cool colors of this one. Anyway, I decided to have a little fun with today’s MotD.
170 – Prawn Kimchi Noodle Mandala
I love the multiple representations of symmetrical and asymmetrical mandalas (food and plates) and spirals (prawns), all presented in a simple, elegant, asymmetrical way over an abstract background. While being a potential feast for the taste buds, it starts out as a feast for the eyes.

Austrian graphic designer and artist, Koloman Moser, designed the medallions (and its related designs) that adorn Otto Wagner’s jugendstil apartment building (1898-99) in Vienna, Austria. It’s beautifully photographed here by nikon80cat.

Artist Brian Dettmer carved out details in a set of encyclopedias and put them all together to form this delightful mandala-like piece of art. What would otherwise be an outdated set of books now becomes a visual merry-go-round of images that flash before us, giving us the world in pictures instead of words.
