Continuing with Principle #1 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” about being 100% responsible for your own life, I set the intention today to look at the effects of inaction. He states: “Realize that you are not the victim here. You stood passively by and let it happen. You didn’t say anything, make a demand, make a request, say no, try something new, or leave.” Powerful words that I have to admit stung a bit when I took them to heart.
The coloring/painting of this mandala makes me think about how I may look like I’m doing “stuff” but the reality is it’s all variations of the same. For a while now, I have felt myself being pull to expand what I do, put myself out there more. I’ve been inactive about it because it involves risk, more learning, and doing new things. I know I have a fear of being a disappointment and figure if I don’t do anything new I won’t disappoint anyone. What I need to embrace is the idea that I’m already a “disappointment” (to myself) because I’m not expanding…so I might as well give it a go.
“The price of inaction
— Meister Eckhart
is far greater than the cost
of making a mistake.”
btw…I used watercolor pencils. here’s how it looked before adding water:

An Invitation
I invite you to color along with me this year as part of what I’m calling “The Year of Self-Exploration and Expansion” with all of my “Mandalas of the ___” (day, week, month, year). If you’re interested in more of a self-exploration approach to coloring, check out my “Coloring Mandalas as Meditation”.
