Peace
“a stress-free state of security and calmness that comes when everything is coexisting in perfect harmony and freedom”
This definition of peace, while seemingly correct, seems a bit off to me, a bit far fetched even. My understanding of peace is two-fold: 1) that it’s an inside job, and 2) that it’s a stress-free state of security and calmness regardless of what’s going on otherwise.
Like the song lyric states: “Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.” I wholehearted agree with this and at the same time find it challenging to attain. Looking at the state of our world right now and going with the adage that what’s going on the outside is just a reflection of what’s going on on the inside, I can see where there are many of us who could use some inner peace.
So how do we do it? How do we create and maintain peace from within? Mainly, it’s a mindset thing. For me, I’m realizing that my need to control things, to have things be a certain way, cause me the most angst. In order to get to peace I’d need to accept the things I cannot change…one of those things being that change and uncertainty are a constant part of life…and yet, they are the very things that offer opportunities for growth.
Other mindset options are trusting in the process, being present with what is, being flexible, focusing on what truly matters, and knowing that I/we can handle whatever comes our way.
And, of course, conscious deep breathing is must.
How about you? Is peace a core value for you?
BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with …

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day
Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.

Whole heartedly agree with your comments on PEACE! Goes right along with today’s ACIM lesson. Deep appreciation for you, Maureen, your thoughts, creativity and Mission! PeaceLoveJoy, Meredith
