75 year-old Slovenian artist, Franc Grom, creates these amazingly delicate and beautiful pieces of 3D art using just a drill and a hollowed-out egg.
Using a very fine drill bit and a lot of focus, he pokes thousands of holes into the eggshell to form intricate patterns and images: from the Eiffel Tower, to famous faces, to dragons and detailed patterns.
Painting beautiful, artistic eggs is a cultural tradition in his part of the world. He decided to kick the art form up a notch to add holes. This video shows a bit of what he does:
This article from the Daily Mail goes into more detail about his process: Artist makes intricate designs painstakingly using pin-pierce patterns in eggshells
I’m intrigued by this art form. The results are fantastic. I’m in awe of Franc and other artists of delicate art. Knowing my tendency to be less than delicate, I would end up eating a lot of eggs before I could complete just one art egg. 🙂
